Originally from Oklahoma, I love science but also indulge in art and theatre, especially Shakespeare as I was a member of a Shakespeare in the Park company for five years. Although, being with the Bard for so long did lead me to try some pretty avant-garde theatre in Berkeley. Ha! In college, I majored in mechanical engineering for two years before switching to physics because what I truly want is to explore the origins of our universe. When not running the accelerator on campus, I take dance classes, including ballet and other more risque types not to be mentioned online. :) I love drinking wine with friends and experimenting with other kinds of adventure, although my paintball idea would have been better realized if we didn't get our asses (yes! this site lets me say that!) kicked by a bunch of twelve year old boys. I'm constantly fascinated by the natural beauty of the northwest. My first snowshoeing experience this winter opened my eyes to the outdoors and showed me how much fun it is to pelt my friends with snowballs and dive into fields of fresh powder! I also play the piano, but grad school keeps me busy enough that I don't get as many chances to play as I'd like; however, I do have small piano keys tattoed on the back of one shoulder so my passion is always with me.

I love all kinds of dancing. I'm getting into the outdoors but am certainly a neophyte, and having a refreshing cocktail in the sun is a summer must. However, curling up on the couch with a good book and good man is just as refreshing.

I have a BA in physics from Berkeley and am currently working on my PhD in nuclear astrophysics. Music continuously surrounds me--house, trance, 80s, old hard rock, Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz, Zero 7, City and Colour, Iron & Wine, Moby, Air, Tori Amos, AC/DC, Kaskade, Paul Oakenfold, Jose Gonzalez, NIN, Rachmaninoff...

I thoroughly enjoy my alone time and independence but also would like to share some of it with someone special. Friends and family are also very important to me. Communication is key, and I prefer people who keep the flakiness to a minimum. As I've had a pretty strange life, I'm more intrigued by people who come with a twist or an edge, and, because it's difficult to find, a paradoxical combination of science and art really piques my interest.
