Looking for butterflies...

I'm open-minded, have a thirst for knowledge, am considerate, quirky, and playful. I love odd and obscure info and get excited about small things. I like to make up band names, think of oxymorons, and smile at the little things in life.

Like most people, I love music, films, reading, writing, hiking, camping, and traveling. I also love to swing dance. I constantly have a song in my head and feel like there is an unheard soundtrack of music accompanying my life. I like cooking for friends and trying new recipes. I love finding mistakes in books and sometimes think how much I would have enjoyed being a book editor. Small things make me giddy - inside jokes, something silly a child at my work says, or just being able to see the mountains on a clear day - what could be better?

I want to read all of the Booker Prize winning books. I love bookstores, books with uneven pages, and the smell of old books. Ironically I rarely buy books but instead I visit SPL often. I like to buy old records and recently decided to splurge on new ones as well.

I like having interesting conversations (even if we don't agree on everything) and learning new things. If you have something interesting to share or teach, please drop me a line. Read a great book, heard an amazing band, or saw something peculiar on your walk home? Tell me about it!

Deeper

What is something that people are surprised to find out about you? I'm not on facebook!

Where are your local haunts? Century Ballroom, Victrola, Volunteer Park, Sunday markets, anyplace fun or new with friends.

What kind of person are you attracted to? I'm a fan of people who love music, books, films, seeing the good in people, noticing things, who have a quirky sense of humor and quick wit, and who have eyes that smile when they smile. I like people who are playful and genuine. I love being able to banter back and forth with people who don't take themselves too seriously and can be sarcastic without being mean. I like a little mischief and nerdy things. I am drawn to passion, ambition, and confidence (not arrogance). I like people who want to go on adventures but who also enjoy hanging out at a park or strolling through neighborhoods. I like comfortable silences as well as interesting conversations. Ultimately I'm hoping to meet someone who is intellectually stimulating, interested in fun stuff, and who is introspective. And of course the chemistry has to be there...I'm turned on by good kissing and flirting. What about you?

What's something you want to do but haven't? Travel throughout Japan.

What songs would be on the soundtrack of your life? For someone who loves music so much this is truly hard for me to answer. I don't know where to begin. I have a hard time listing all of my musical tastes and answering something like this. I know I would inevitably leave off someone meaningful to me and would later realize it and feel horrible. I would also obsess over the choices I listed. It would consume me and I would have to update this all the time as I thought of bands I didn't list but should have. Trust me though, it would be a long and varied list.

My radio dial is usually tuned to: NPR or KEXP if I am driving but Pandora while I'm working.

Who’s someone you’d like to be trapped in a confined space with? How about no one? If I get to choose who I would like to be trapped in a confined space with, can't I just choose NOT to be trapped at all? How about that? That's what I choose - no traps. No confined spaces. Now, if we are talking about being on a deserted island with someone....

One book everyone should read is: Just one? That's nonsense...how about "Catcher in the Rye" by J.D. Salinger, "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand, "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee and something by Haruki Murakami (to name a few). "Zeitoun" by Dave Eggers is the best book I've read recently.

What bands do you always find yourself talking shit about? I don't. What's the point? I'd rather spend time talking about the bands I do like! That sounds way more fun.

If I could only eat one type of food for the rest of my life, it would be: very depressing.

Fill It

My idea of a great date is one that keeps me smiling.

My picture(s) reveal that I am lacking in photos and will try to remedy that soon. I'm not very photogenic. and actually hate having my photo taken.

My guiltiest pleasure is TV on DVD marathons and dessert.

A fault my friends tease me about is having a good memory and correcting mistakes in library books.

It's Sunday morning at 10 a.m. If I'm not still sleeping, I'm at the gym.

When I was a kid, I actually owned a Atari 2600 - and I still have it.
